8 Oct – DIY spirituality, religion and silence

How do Quakers practise their faith? Is there only one way? Is it worship? Is it necessarily Christian, or even religious? How can we help each other to cultivate and live out our faith in the ways that are right for each of us?

15 Oct – Marking and managing major life events

How do we decide what to do at critical moments in life? Can being part of a Quaker community help us with this? How do we mark what is important to us? What is a Quaker wedding like? And a Quaker funeral? What does ‘joining’ the Society of Friends mean? Do you have to sign anything?

22 Oct – Disagreeing in an agreeable way

How can we ‘disagree agreeably’? How do we recognise the concerns of others, even if we don’t share them? How can we respond if someone says something that we think is untrue, or simply wrong? How do Quakers combine spirituality and politics? Who needs the word God, and who doesn’t? Can pets participate in Quaker meetings?

29 Oct – Life online – loving and loathing new technology

How are our lives changing with digital _ technology? Can it help us to live together better? How does it affect Quaker meetings? What do we gain and lose from coming to rely on new devices and forms of communication? What did Covid teach us about community and technology?

5 Nov – Facing the future – hopes and fears

How do we think and feel about the future? How do we cope with the rising cost of living, and with economic insecurity and inequality? How should we respond to violence and war? And climate change? Has this anything to do with spirituality? How is our trust and faith in other people changing? What prompts us to move from ideas to actions? How do we respond to people who make different choices to ours?
